PRIORITIES

Public Safety

Public safety is our city’s top priority.

We’re ranked in the top 15% of the State’s safest cities!  Public safety will be the top priority making up 50% of the city’s General Fund Expenditures.  As Livermore’s Mayor I support this level of commitment to keeping our residents safe. Just as important, I support our police force who were evaluated to be “fair and unbiased” based upon an analysis of 10 years of data.

Recent Safety Accomplishments during my tenure as mayor

Livermore has invested in a Real Time Analysis Center which provides up to date information and intelligence to stakeholders within the police department and the City.  It’s a tool effective across multiple technology platforms.  This new center capitalizes on intelligence led policing, allowing our officers to increase effectiveness in implementing resources.  In the event of a local or regional disaster or emergency this center will support our Emergency Operations.

Another recent and very important Public Safety investment is our Virtual Training Simulator or VirTra.  It utilizes a library of interactive scenarios that can be changed based upon the decisions made by an officer using it to train.  VirTra provides an opportunity for officers to practice realistic scenarios including:

  • Active threat/shooter

  • Autism response

  • De-escalation

  • Dog encounters

  • Domestic violence

  • Hostage situations

  • Mental health response

  • Undercover operations

Under my leadership we will be making significant capital improvements in support of public safety such as Fire Station Number 6 Modernization and our Police Building Renovations.
